Thanks Nan! What would we do without Grandparents help with the kids, especially over summer!

Summer can be magical for children, but it can be a juggling act for us adults in organising it and fitting it all around jobs that carry on regardless. School is out, clubs only cover so much, work carries on, and more often than not the people keeping everything steady are Nan, Grandad, Grandma, Grandpa, Granny, Pops, or whatever much loved name they answer to.
They do the park trips, the lunches, the sun cream reminders, the toy tidying, the rainy-day crafts, the ice creams, the lifts, the sleepovers, and the “don’t worry, I’ll have them” moments that make family life possible.
A proper thank-you matters.
Flowers are lovely, chocolates disappear, and wine is not always the right fit. But a handmade keepsake that reflects the bond between grandparents and grandchildren will sit pride of place on a wall or shelf for years. That is why our pebble art pictures make such thoughtful gifts for grandparents, especially after a busy summer of helping with childcare.

Grandparents often help all year round, but the summer holidays can make their support feel enormous.
During term time, school gives the week a rhythm. There are drop-offs, pick-ups, packed lunches, reading books, and clubs. It can still be busy, but there is a structure. Then summer arrives, and the usual routine changes overnight.
Many grandparents step in without fuss. They might have the children for a few hours while parents work, take them for whole days, host sleepovers, cover childcare gaps, or help during family holidays. Some become the centre of the summer calendar.
They may not ask for much in return, but that does not mean their effort goes unnoticed.
The little things add up:
Making sandwiches for children who suddenly change their mind about fillings
Finding spare towels after paddling pool chaos
Watching the same cartoon more than once
Carrying scooters, bags, coats, hats, and half-finished drinks
Listening to long stories about Minecraft, mermaids, football, or playground gossip
Staying patient when everyone is hot, tired, and sticky from ice lollies.
Our pebble art frames work so well because thay can capture a feeling without needing lots of words. That simplicity is part of its charm. Pebble art has a gentle, handmade quality. Each stone is different, so every picture has its own character. The shapes are simple, but they allow people to see their own family and memories in the scene. A small pebble can become a child. A taller stone can become a grandparent and so on.
That makes pebble art especially suited to family gifts. It does not need to look like a photograph to feel personal. In fact, the softness of it can make it more meaningful. It leaves room for memory.
One of our pebble art pictures can instantly remind a grandparent of:
A summer walk with little hands tucked into theirs
A picnic in the park
A seaside day with sandy shoes and wet socks
A grandchild running into their arms
A quiet afternoon in the garden
The joy of being needed and loved
We also make it easy to personalise. The picture can reflect the number of grandchildren, the family name, a short message, or a phrase the children use for their grandparents.
That could be, for example:
“Thank you Nan and Grandad”
“Best Grandma and Grandpa”
“Thank you for our summer adventures”
“Love from your little crew”
“Making memories with Nanny”
“Grandad’s gang”
The best message is usually the one that sounds like the family. If the children call them “Nana and Pops”, use that. If everyone says “Granny and Gramps”, choose that. Those small details are what turn a nice present into their present.

The phrase “thanks for babysitting” can sound a bit small when grandparents have given whole chunks of their summer.
They are not just supervising. They are building memories. They might be retired, semi-retired, still working, caring for someone else, or simply enjoying a slower pace of life before the summer schedule fills up. Looking after children is joyful, but it is also tiring. A thoughtful thank-you recognises both sides.
Our pebble art can carry that message beautifully because it is warm without being over the top. It says:
We see what you do for us, and we are grateful.
That matters. Many grandparents help because they love their family, not because they expect praise. But feeling appreciated never stops being important.
A framed quote picture gives them something to keep, not just something to use up. It can sit on a mantelpiece, hang in a hallway, or brighten a bedside table. Each time they see it, they are reminded that their help is valued.
For children, giving the gift can also be part of learning gratitude. They can help choose the wording, decide how many pebble figures should be included, or write a card to go with it. Even young children can understand the idea of saying thank you to someone who has looked after them.
A family tree design
A family tree theme is ideal when the gift comes from several grandchildren or from the wider family. Pebble birds can represent each grandchild.

It is a gentle way to show that grandparents are at the heart of family life.
When to give a summer thank-you gift
There is no perfect timing as it will fit around your circumstances, but the end of the school holidays is a natural moment. It marks the shift back to uniforms, packed lunches, and school runs. It also gives the gift a clear purpose.
You could give it:
At the end of August, before school starts again
After the final summer sleepover
During a family Sunday lunch
On Grandparents’ Day, if your family marks it
With a back-to-school photo or card from the children
As a birthday or Christmas gift that still refers to the summer
A pebble art thank-you also works well as a surprise. Grandparents often shrug off their help with “it was nothing” or “we loved having them”. A thoughtful framed picture says, gently, that it was something, and it meant a lot.
If the children are old enough, let them hand it over. They might be shy, especially if the moment feels emotional, but that is part of its charm. A small voice saying “thank you for looking after me” can make even the toughest grandad blink a little.

A small keepsake for a very big thank-you
Grandparents often become the quiet heroes of summer. They fill the gaps, calm the chaos, make the memories, and give children a sense of being safe, loved, and welcome.
A pebble art picture is a simple way to honour that. It does not shout. It does not fade after a few days. It captures a feeling and gives it a place in the home.
Whether the design shows a nan and grandad with their grandchildren, a seaside summer scene, a family tree, or a playful nod to all the snacks and days out, the message is the same.
Thank you for showing up. Thank you for helping. Thank you for loving them so well.
For grandparents who have given their time, energy, patience, and cuddles through the summer months, that is a gift worth giving.
